Orville C. Davis, a resident of Poland Maine, joined the Canadian Expeditionary forces in 1914 at the beginning of World War I. While stationed in Europe he regularly wrote letters home some of which were shared with the public in the Lewiston Journal. Davis was killed in action in 1917.

Davis’ family shared his letters and newspaper clippings with the Maine State Library in 2017.
