Published from 1980 to 1995, the Northeast Harness News was the source for information on standardbred racing coverage in New England and beyond.
Thanks to the paper's founder and former editor, Jean Emerson, this important chapter in harness racing history is now available online.
Coinciding with the online publication of this archive of newspapers in 2017, Ms. Emerson compiled the History of the Northeast Harness News, providing readers with additional context on the events that led to the paper’s launch and successful 15-year run.
The Maine State Library also acknowledges the dedicated efforts of Stephen D. Thompson in digitizing a significant portion of this collection so that it could be permanently accessible to future generations.
