Description
Report of agents for the Penobscot Nation to the Governor and Executive Council regarding the decline in tribal fishing and hunting due to white settlers. Reports on destruction of fish stock by weirs and seines, destruction of crops by roaming cattle wading to Island at low water, and near-extinction of moose and deer, killed by settlers only for hides. Laments the sale of "ardent spirits" (alcohol) to tribe and requests Legislative action to remedy grievances.
