Description

The Baxter Collection at the Maine State Library consists of the following:

  • A 4-drawer filing cabinet containing
    • 134 numbered Folders in first 3 drawers. These hold general correspondence and related papers, pictures, travel literature, printed material.
  • Scrapbooks (28 bound volumes)
  • James Phinney Baxter Manuscripts (21 bound volumes)
    • These are large volumes made up of handwritten copies of documents relating to early Maine history. Many of them are copied from records in England .
  • Percival P. Baxter Addresses (4 bound volumes)
  • Address Book (l volume )
    • Names and addresses are added on blank pages of a 1954 diary.
  • Maps
  • Awards and Citations
  • Oversize pictures
  • Engraved Cuts (for printing)
  • Miscellaneous Items
