Description
This report summarizes preliminary themes from 23 community conversations involving 124 participants across Maine from September 28 to October 2, 2026. Prepared by the LEO Group to inform development of the Maine AI Literacy and Safety Plan, it reflects perspectives from library staff, educators, students, older adults, employers, community organizations, and other residents. Key themes include privacy and safety, critical thinking, workforce readiness, support for library and educational staff, and approaches to AI that reflect Maine’s values and local needs. The report identifies individual, organizational, and community dimensions of AI literacy and emphasizes human-centered technology use, collective decision-making, and community participation. Findings represent an initial synthesis, with further analysis and public feedback planned.
