Description

Isabelle Ames Ripley (1882 - 1963) better known as Aunt Belle lived on Matinicus Island and was an avid photographer. As gifts for many island residents she created "House Books" which included photos of all the houses on the island as well as other points of interest. This is a house book that she made for her sister, Jessie M. Philbrook, for her birthday on July 7, 1943. The names below each picture are the owners/ occupants of the house from its building until 1943. Some names were added after that date.
