Description
Maine Running & Fitness was founded by Lance Tapley of Augusta. The publication ran from October 1994 to August 1996 when it was replaced by the magazine Maine Sports Outdoors. Maine Running & Fitness provided coverage of the state’s long-distance running community through race results, schedules, flyers, and articles about running. The publication includes individual and group profiles, club news, and local updates. Maine Running & Fitness also covered other sports and fitness in general. The publication included an increased emphasis on letters to the editor and a new “Classified” column with an athlete personal ads section. Maine Running & Fitness was an offshoot of Mainely Running where Tapley served as its second and final editor from July 1993 to September 1994.
