Description
Full transcript of the meeting of the Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Advisory Commission held in Madawaska on November 17, 1994 and chaired by Richard G. Dumont (president of the University of Maine at Fort Kent). Also enclosed: a letter from Bruce Jacobson (National Park Service) to Bernette Albert dated October 25, 1994 regarding funds expended by the NPS on Maine Acadian culture. The original packet for Commission members included news clippings.
Agenda:
- Update on the NPS historic preservation seminar;
- Setting up Commission working groups to advise NPS in developing action plans;
- Proposing places and dates of 1995 Commission meetings.
The meeting featured a lengthy discussion of Madawaska/St. David as the birthplace of Acadian Valley culture and the original site of the Acadian cross. Four files.
