Description

This is a photograph of the Jay-Niles Memorial Library. The library was a gift deeded to the town of Jay on February 21, 1918 from the prominent and successful Niles family siblings of North Jay. It was given in honor and memory of their parents, Veranus and Mehitable Harris Niles. The Niles brothers gave the funds for the library to be built, but the dream of a town library was their sister Eliza's.
