Henry Leroy Foss was born March 29, 1894, in Madison, Maine.

He entered into service on May 28, 1918, and served the U. S. Army during World War I apart of Company D, 3rd Machine Gun Battalion. He fought in the Battle of Saint-Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive where he was wounded in action on October 9, 1918.

Upon returning from the "Great War," he worked as a farmer and construction worker. Foss died November 5, 1989, in Skowhegan, Maine and is remembered here by his great-nephew, a Maine resident.
