The 4th Maine Battery was mustered in for three years' six months service on December 21, 1861, and was mustered out on June 17, 1865. Of the men enrolled in the regiment, 5 were killed or died of wounds and 23 died of disease.

- Mine Run, VA - November 26, 1863

- Spotsylvania, VA - May 7, 1864
- Cold Harbor, VA - May 31, 1864
- Petersburg, VA - June 15, 1864
- Sulphur Springs, VA - August 26-27, 1863
