Dr. Daniel McRuer reports to Governor Washburn on the disorganization of the 2nd Regiment and the lack of food, clothing, medical care, and shelter.

"Their clothing is in a very ragged condition...their food I found to be very bad indeed...it was both mouldy and weevily...the poor sick soldiers are obliged to sleep on the damp ground..."
