The 2nd Maine Cavalry was mustered in for 23 months' service on January 12, 1864 and were mustered out on December 6, 1865. Of the men enrolled in the regiment, 10 were killed or died of wounds and 334 died of disease.

- Pollard, AL - December 13, 1864
- Milton, FL - February 23, 1865
- Mobile, AL - March 17 - April 12, 1865
