The 2nd Maine Battery was mustered in for three years' seven months service on November 30, 1861, and was mustered out on June 16, 1865. Of the men enrolled in the regiment, 5 were killed or died of wounds and 26 died of disease. They served in the following engagements:

- Fredericksburg Pike, VA - May 19, 1864
- North Anna, VA - May 23, 1864
- Cold Harbor, VA - May 31, 1864
- Petersburg, VA - June 15, 1864
