Description
Oscar Howe of Howe Hill, working the family farm with his team of oxen. Oscar and his brother Walter, both bachelors, lived on the farm their entire lives and were well known for their frugal lifestyle. One year, they spent only $50, growing all their own food and working the land. Walter used to tell how Oscar would “buy overalls three sizes too large so he could cut the bottoms off the pants to make a hat.”
