Description
Lieutenant Colonel Gilmore writes from Washington, D.C. to General John L. Hodsdon describing Chamberlain's wound, his promotion to Brig. General, his merit as a soldier, and the names of the men Chamberlain recommends for promotion.
"His wound is a very severe one and a very dangerous one, and the surgeons are by no means certain of saving his life."
