The Atlantic Salmon Commission was charged with protecting, preserving, enhancing, restoring and managing Atlantic salmon and their habitat; securing a sustainable recreational fishery in the State; and conducting and coordinating all projects involving research, planning, management, restoration or propagation of the Atlantic salmon.
Funding for the Atlantic Salmon Commission was eliminated in 2009 by Public Law, Chapter 462 and the agency was officially abolished in 2010 by Public Law, Chapter 561.
