Description

John G. Deane, Esq. writes Governor Fairfield on behalf of the Penobscot representatives regarding funds for travel.

Deane remarks that in 1838 "the St. John and Passamaquoddy tribes came to Old Town to assist the Penobscots in the choice of Governor. I was at Governor Hunt's house when a deputation of Indians called, and he enquired whether they had been supplied according to directions, to which they answered yes."
