Description
Alvin Orlando Lombard. A Waterville blacksmith, devised a way in 1901, to haul logs over frozen, uneven, ground, his invention. Using steam power and tracked vehicle treads, proved to be so effective that ‘Lombard’s steam log hauler’ was designated as a National historic mechanical engineering landmark.
