In 1928, Llewelyn Edwards A Civil Engineer For The State Sees His Cob-Work Bridge Unite Bailey And Orr’s Islands In Harpswell. The Criss-Crossed Granite Slabs – 10,000 Tons Of Them – Allow For Tidal Waters To Flow Through The Quarter-Mile Long Structure The Only One Of Its Kind In The World The Bailey Island Bridge Is A National Historic Engineering Landmark.
