Description

On July 8th, 1916 President Woodrow Wilson establishes the Sieur de Monts National Monument: 57,000 acres on Mount Desert Island, Schoodic Point, and Isle au Haut. In 1919, the name changes to Lafayette National Park and 10 years later, it becomes better known by its new name, Acadia National Park.
