Description
In May of 1860 at the Republican Convention in Chicago, Illinois, Maine Senator Hannibal Hamlin is chosen to run as Abraham Lincoln's candidate for vice president. The two men had never met. If they win, Hamlin predicts to his wife, "There is going to be a war, and a terrible one, "just as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow."
