    Description

Surveys were conducted along roads at sunset and after the moon has risen to find nightjars in the state. 10 mile stretches of road were selected with a survey station every 1 mile. A six minute point count was conducted at each survey site with information collected on the species detected as well as their minute-by-minute detection patterns. See the Maine Nightjar Monitoring Project for details on the survey protocol.

There are two components to the database: effort data describing when sites were surveyed and the condition under which that occurred and the observation data which describe the species detected and details of their detection. These files are on different tabs of this Excel file.
