Description
Marshes throughout the state were randomly selected using a GRTS framework that was stratified by marsh size. Volunteer and professional surveys were used to visit point count locations three times in a single year. A five minute passive listening period occurred at the beginning of the survey and active playback from 12 priority species was used for the final 12 minutes. A speaker was used to play vocalizations from the 12 species, one species per minute. The vocalizations were played for 30 seconds and passive listening occurred for the final 30 seconds. The minute of detection was reordered for all species as well as the distance to the observer for target species (i.e., marsh birds).
There are two components to the database: effort data describing when sites were surveyed and the condition under which that occurred and the observation data which describe the species detected and details of their deletion. These files are on different tabs of this Excel file.
