Description
Letter from an ailing Horace Wright to his wife, pleading with her to see Dr. Alonzo Garcelon to see about getting him released on furlough. Wright was taken ill and complains of poor care at the hospital after being unable to keep up with his regiment.
"...they left me in the wilderness on the James River in VA. There I laid two days with nothing to eat nor no one to care for me so I crawled out to the river and hoisted a signal of distress..."
