Letter from Edward True writing from Hilton Head, South Carolina to his mother Olive in Hope, Maine. He writes of the regiment's movement from Hampton Roads, Virginia to Hilton Head, South Carolina and the bombardment of Confederate-held Fort Walker and Fort Beauregard at Bay Point. Describes gunboat battles and rifle pits.
