Letter from Sylvester Baker to his father and mother in Skowhegan, Maine. He asks for a pot, butter, dry apples, tobacco, two hatchets, and a two-bladed knife.
"Father you don't now what it is to be soldiers and what we git to eat. some times we git anought to eat and gin we git nought."
