Description
Letter from Sylvester Baker writing to his mother from the field at Petersburg, Virginia. He writes of the wound received by Joshua Chamberlain on June 18 at the Battle of Petersburg.
"It is one year ago today since we fought the battle of Geattersburg [Gettysburg], PA. But we don't know what will turn up before fall...Our Col got wounded leading the 1st Brig on charge. He was good man and I hear that he has got promoted to Gen'l."
