Description
Letter from Maine Adjutant General John L. Hodsdon to former Adjutant General Davis Tillson dated May 26, 1861. Hodsdon discusses a broad range of topics but primarily focuses upon a letter received from U.S. Secretary of War Simon Cameron to the Governor of Maine, recommending that no man should be appointed a field officer unless a graduate of the U.S. military academy.
