"By the desire of Mr. Joseph Carlton and James Hodge undertakers to take a Survey of New Milford, I made the Plan agreeable to the Minutes of the Survey of Ball Town taken by one Davis and Survey of Sheepscut River taken by Thomas Boyd of Boothbay who took a Survey of said River December 24, 1795 and the Lines between Dresden and New Milford by Benjamin Poor who took a Survey in the course of the winter past, and the line between Pownalborough and New Milford taken by my self, and laid down the Plan by a scale of two hundred Poles to an inch agreeable to said Plan. John S. Foye, Surveyor of Land"
