Light Artillery - 6th Maine Battery

 

The 6th Maine Battery was mustered in for 3 years 9 months' service on February 7, 1862 and were mustered out on June 17, 1865. Of the men enrolled in the regiment, 13 were killed or died of wounds and 27 died of disease.

They served in the following engagements:

  • Cedar Mountain, MD - August 9, 1862
  • Second Bull Run, VA - August 29, 1862
  • Chantilly, VA - September 1, 1862
  • Antietam, MD - September 17, 1862
  • Blackfords Ford, VA - September 19, 1862
  • Gettysburg, PA - July 1, 1863
  • Sulphur Springs, VA - August 26-27, 1863
  • Rappahannock Bridge, VA - November 7, 1863
  • Mine Run, VA - November 26, 1863
  • Wilderness, VA - May 5, 1864
  • Spotsylvania, VA - May 7, 1864
  • North Anna, VA - May 23, 1864
  • Cold Harbor, VA - May 31, 1864
  • Petersburg, VA - June 15, 1864
