The 21st Maine Regiment was mustered in for nine months' service on October 13, 1862 and were mustered out on August 25, 1863. Of the men enrolled in the regiment, 27 were killed or died of wounds and 145 died of disease. They served in Port Hudson, LA - May 26 - July 9, 1863.
