15th Maine Regiment

 

The 15th Maine Regiment was mustered in for three years' service on January 20, 1862 and were mustered out on July 5, 1866. Of the men enrolled in the regiment, 5 were killed or died of wounds and 343 died of disease.

They served in the following engagements:

  • Aransas Pass - November 17, 1863
  • Fort Esperanza, TX - November 27, 1863
  • Sabine Cross Roads - April 8, 1864
  • Pleasant Hill, LA - April 12, 1864
  • Cane River Crossing - April 23, 1864
  • Mansura, LA - May 16, 1864
