Harris Plaisted Begins A Bangor Law Practice In 1856 But Does Not Stay Long A Natural Leader Plaisted Takes Command Of The 11th Maine Volunteer Regiment In 1861 And Rises To The Rank Of Major General By The End Of The Civil War He Returns To Maine Is Elected To The Legislature And Later Serves As Attorney General Governor Congressman And Newspaper Publisher
